Veteran motor racer Andrew King stormed to pole position for today’s feature clash in the Group 4 event at the South Dakota Circuit when qualifying was staged yesterday in the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club National Race of Champions Meeting second 2.
Afternoon showers failed to dampen the thrust of the yellow and blue machine as King negotiated the circuit to emerge with the fastest lap of 36.247 seconds.
Paul Vieira, who had an excellent showing in the last meeting, will start just alongside King at the front of the grid after finishing second in 36.736 seconds.
Group 3 will see Trinidadian Ravi Singh at the front after turning in a time of 38.093 with Gavin Guyadin (38.440) close on his heels.
The ‘one hand wonder’ Kemal Rahaman sits atop Group 2B after finishing in a time of 41.851 seconds, while Chet Singh claimed pole position in the Group 2A division.
Harold Hopkinson sits in a coveted position in the Rookie category after outpacing Vicky Persaud and Soren Griffith to claim pole.
Due to the rain, the bikers did not participate in qualifying and will have to face the luck of the draw at today’s competition.
An exciting and action packed day of racing is anticipated at Timehri.
