The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is encouraging the general public and the business community to provide any information that could aid and promote compliance with the various tax laws.
The GRA recently established an Intelligence Unit as part of the restructuring of the organisation along functional lines.
The aim of intelligence is to increase revenue and promote a climate of compliance among traders and importers, the GRA stated in a press release.
The objective of the Unit is to provide GRA with up to date, high quality intelligence enabling the organisation to identify and control risks presented to it in its day to day operations.
Information is a critical component in dealing with non compliance with the various statutes administered by the GRA, since it allows for more targeted activities and at the same time rewards taxpayers by not subjecting them to any form of scrutiny, the Authority stated.
