The President and Executive members of the Berbice Cricket Board are extending congratulations to national middle order batsman Travis Dowlin on his Test debut for the West Indies versus Bangladesh. A release from the board said, “Dowlin has over the years represented Demerara and Guyana with passion, pride and commitment and his selection is the reward he deserves for his achievements. The Berbice Cricket Board wishes him the best in the future and at the age of 32, he still has a few more years at the highest level.
“Travis Dowlin is a true example of how dreams can be achieved if one is prepared to work hard, be committed to the greater good despite trials and most importantly to be discipline at all times. We would like to challenge all young cricketers in Guyana to follow in Dowlin’s footstep and to dedicate themselves to the game of cricket.”
“The Berbice Cricket Board would also like to extend congrats to the Demerara Cricket Club on it’s achievement of producing another Test cricketer. The Demerara Cricket Club has over the years served Guyana’s cricket well and Dowlin has joined a list of outstanding club members, the likes of Clive Lloyd, Lance Gibbs, Roy Fredericks and Roger Harper to wear the famous maroon cap.
“It is our hope that all clubs in Guyana would continue to work hard to return West Indies cricket to where it rightfully belongs – at the top.”
