Yesterday morning, a man of unsound mind reportedly stabbed a school vendor in New Amsterdam and attacked police ranks. He was shot and later admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
According to police reports, the man, 38-year-old Clinton Adams of no fixed place of abode, who is believed to be of unsound mind, claimed that the children at the Trinity Street Primary School hurled objects at him.
Armed with a knife, he then went to a vendor at the said school – Yvonne Lindie Permaul, of 10 Church Street, New Amsterdam – and stabbed her on the right side of the neck.
The mentally ill man then turned his attention to the school children and ran after them.
Police responded moments later and attempted to arrest the man. However, he reportedly attacked them with the knife, causing them to discharge a round at him, hitting him in the right thigh.
He was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he is under police guard nursing a fractured right thigh.
