Police in Berbice are seeking assistance from members of public in identifying the decomposed body of a man, which was found on Saturday last.
Reports are that the body was found in the Chesney Backdam, Albion around 17:00 hours on Saturday.
This newspaper was told that police received an anonymous call, which informed them that the body was in a canal in the back dam.
According to a source, the body is believed to be that of a male from Indian ancestry.
The victim was clad only in a black long-sleeve shirt and black underwear with white trimmings.
However, police were forced to bury the remains because of the advanced state of decomposition.
Up to press time yesterday, no one in the Berbice area had come forward with a missing person report.
