Dear Editor,
I must commend the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) for the progress it has made to update its system relative to issuance of Revenue Licence,
more so, the effort to have persons submitted their Tax Returns for year 2008. I do hope plans are in place to salvage the issuance of Driver’s Licence also.
In the printed and electronic media I am sure persons are fully aware of all the efforts this entity is making to facilitate this process. We are advised that failure to submit our returns we will incur a penalty.
Great Mr. Sattaur! However, I have two big questions for you and the entity at large. When will you at least acknowledge receipt of my Tax Returns for the past several years, and, more so, when will I ever be told that you owe at least one cent or nothing? Yes, all the fuss of us not submitting our Returns or we will be punished, what about you and your entity not having the courtesy to respond to the thousands of claims submitted over a number of years?
In other countries people depend on their returns, which are used to further develop themselves. We in Guyana would like to do the same.
I am eager to hear from someone at the Guyana Revenue Authority.
K. A. Williams
