Dear Editor,
I refer to the AFC Column in Kaieteur News on 05-04-09, written by Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan.
I was reluctant to respond to Mr. Ramjattan’s article because he set out to prove a point based fundamentally on a defensive posture.
Like a colleague of his at New Amsterdam, they both put their profession on a pedestal and argue self-righteously that that profession is above criticism.
That is the basis of their rejection of the case advanced by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Ministry is not swayed by the high-falutin legalistic arguments advanced by the legal duo such as distinctions between Courts with a common “c” and Courts with a capital “C” nor limitation of jurisdiction by statute. Ramjattan misses the point as he is usually prone to do and seeks refuge in the old hackneyed AFC arguments to justify his defence of his profession. Clement J. Rohee
