Apr 08, 2009 Letters
I refer to two letters in the newspapers, purported to have been penned by one Mr. David Glenn and a Mr. Raphael Trotman under separate captions: “Port Kaituma residents want ambulance back” and “Why deny the people of Port Kaituma what is rightfully theirs?”
In the first instant, no decision has ever been taken by the Regional Administration or the Regional Democratic Council of the Region to relocate the ambulance that is the subject matter of the letters from the misinformed persons, to the Moruca Region or any other area of the Region outside of Port Kaituma.
The Sacre Coeur Mining Company that is involved in mining in the Matarkai sub Region did offer to have the Ambulance serviced and, for this reason, was given permission to take the vehicle to Georgetown to have the required works done.
Up to the time of my penning this response, the works have not been completed so that the ambulance could be returned to Port Kaituma.
Meanwhile, the staff of the Port Kaituma Hospital has access to a Pick-Up that is used primarily in the Immunisation work in the Sub Region.
I expect that this response would put the lie to deliberate wicked efforts by some to create mischief by misinforming the residents of the Port Kaituma area, the Region and the Country.
Ms. Mary Williams
Regional Executive Officer, Region One
