At age 27, Kevon Adonis has already established himself as a very astute businessman, whose easy smile and quiet demeanour belie his inherent determination.
Kevon grew up with his parents and four other siblings at One Mile, Wismar, Linden and attended the One Mile Primary and Mackenzie High School respectively. After leaving Mackenzie High School, Kevon took up a clerical position at Courts Linden branch.
Twelve months later he was promoted to Senior Clerk, and shortly after, Credit Supervisor.
Determined to further his studies, after completing three years at the Courts Linden Branch, Kevon migrated to Trinidad where he continued working with Courts at the Company’s Trinidad Head Office, while simultaneously attending the University of the West Indies.
It was while in Trinidad that Kevon decided to switch careers from Credit Management to Information Technology— a decision he claims he does not regret.
He would attend the University of the West Indies from 2002 to 2004 and the St. George’s Academy (Trinidad) from 2004 to 2005, all in eastern Trinidad and Tobago.
Our young entrepreneur was successful in acquiring a World Education Service’s Evaluation and straight A(s) at UWI; and was subsequently awarded a scholarship at Saint Peter’s College in New Jersey. He was however denied a visa, and thus could not pursue studies at that College.
Kevon later returned to Guyana where he married his teenage sweetheart Rene Austin in 2006 and founded his business, K3designz (wwwk3designz.com), which is currently located in the LEAP Business Centre on Republic Avenue in January 2007.
One year later he launched the premier job search website in Guyana, www.jobsguyana.com.
“This was after evaluating Guyana’s lack of IT services of this nature, and our increase in Internet usage,” Kevon declared. Three hundred job seekers signed up in the first three months, and to date “jobs Guyana” has over 600 registered job seekers and more than 30 employers online,” Kevon proudly reported
About the Business
Kevon Adonis founded K3designz in January 2007. The proud proprietor pointed out that he believes in the significance of customer satisfaction and prompt delivery of services, which maxims are of paramount important if a business is to succeed.
The business specialises in website design and development, with a wealth of experience in Content Management Systems (CMS), online portals, flash animation, eCommerce, and other web services and PVC Identification production.
Jobs Guyana
Jobs Guyana is a service offered by K3designz that brings an innovative approach for companies and businesses advertising vacancies and job openings. “We saw the need for such innovative services after realizing that more and more people are turning to the Internet for Job Searches in Guyana,” Kevon pointed out, and added that “Jobs Guyana” seeks to bring employers and jobseekers together.
“Both Guyanese and foreign employers are afforded the opportunity to properly and carefully select the perfect candidate for a vacancy, through our services; also employers have many options to search our database for skill and unskilled staff,” Kevon said matter-of-factly.
Kevin noted that while employers benefit greatly from this affordable means of job advertising, job seekers on the other hand now have the means to market themselves even if they are currently employed; and for the first time jobseekers can upload his or her resume and await a private message from an employer about a vacant position or project. Jobs Guyana is a member of the Caribbean Jobline.
The service is totally free for the jobseeker and “super affordable” for employers to advertise vacancies on the Internet”, Kevon said.
The young entrepreneur posited that his major challenge is the fact that Guyana is way behind in technological advancement, and convincing persons who are not computer literate of the benefits of online services can sometimes be a daunting task. He is however determined to persevere in his current endeavours.
A devout Christian, Kevon said he enjoys playing Musical Instruments, especially the Keyboard and Bass Guitar and loves hiking and doing research.
His favourite pastime however is spending quality time with the two special ladies in his life- his beautiful wife Rene and cute and intelligent daughter, three-year-old Kezra.
