GAP offers condolences
Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Guyana Action Party (GAP), I offer to the family, friends and comrades of Ms. Janet Jagan my sincere condolences on this solemn occasion.
It is an indisputable fact that Ms. Jagan was for many decades courageous and consistent in her battles as a political activist in this country and although one may not have agreed with her, over various issues, respect was always due because of her strong convictions and unwavering belief in an ideology.
There was always a plausible reason for her political stand. Things certainly have changed since others have taken over.
Humility and the lack of ostentatious behaviour accompanied her throughout her life – two traits which many who claim to have learned from her would do well to emulate.
I look forward to the day when the impartial documentation of our history is undertaken. No doubt Ms. Janet Jagan will feature prominently with all other national heroes.
May you rest in eternal peace.
