Mark Rigby took two wickets before hitting an accomplished unbeaten 50 to take the spotlight in the third and final national under-15 cricket trial at the DCC ground Thursday. The national junior selectors met Thursday afternoon to name the national squad which will open their 2009 campaign against Barbados on April 6 in Guyana. The right-handed Rigby, son of former Guyana youth player Anthony Rigby, hit four fours from 95 balls in his innings as Ricardo Adams’ X1 were restricted to 124 replying to the 191 made by Shaquille Williams’ X1.
Chanderpaul Hemraj hit three fours and three sixes in a top score of 53 for Williams’ X1 while Kamesh Yadram was also among the wicket yesterday with 2-7. It is expected that the squad and standbys will be announced by the Guyana Cricket Board shortly. (Sean Devers)
