Traffic along the Avenue of the Republic was disrupted just after 16:00hrs yesterday when a route 44 minibus (BLL 2225) slammed into a taxi (HB 1966).
The collision occurred after the bus which was travelling east along Robb Street failed to stop at the Avenue of the Republic, slamming into the taxi which was travelling north along the Avenue.
The minibus hit the taxi, which is owned by Wings Taxi Service, on the driver’s side, with the impact spinning the car around several times.
While no one was seriously injured, some passengers of the minibus complained of pains about the body and were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The driver of the taxi was also taken to the GPHC, nursing significant bruises and abrasions to the face.
The police arrived soon after the collision and, after questioning persons as to what had happened, assisted in taking the injured to the GPHC. Public-spirited citizens who were in the area also assisted in ferrying persons to the hospital.
