Two men, who reportedly confessed to beating a Mon Repos weeder and then placing his body under a bridge, were remanded to prison by Magistrate Yohhahnseh Cave when they appeared before him yesterday at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
Lloyd Rampersaud of Triumph and Saheed Baksh of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, were charged with the murder of 42-year-old Munilall Mangru.
They were not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Mangru’s body was discovered neatly placed last Tuesday morning under the bridge that separates Triumph and Mon Repos.
His bicycle was discovered a few feet from his body, which gave detectives the immediate impression that he was murdered.
Due to Mangru’s battered face and the positioning of his body beneath the bridge, many other persons had also suspected that there may have been foul play involved in his death.
A post mortem examination revealed that Mangru died as a result of haemorrhaging of the brain caused by blunt trauma.
Police are alleging that the two accused had robbed Mangru and then killed him.
