Ragnauth century highlights first round

An unbeaten century from Belle Plaine skipper Chandreka Ragnauth highlighted the first round of the Trophy Stall Guyana Softball League 15 overs cricket competition played last Sunday at Seeram’s tarmac, Belle Plaine Wakenaam.

Ragnauth hit 188 and got support from Macksood Khatweeb (36) as Belle Plaine rattled up 227 without loss off their allotted 15 overs against Sea Shore who in reply were restricted for 128-9 off 15 overs. Abdul Mutalib Ali top scored with 72 as Ragnauth returned with the ball to capture 3 – 20 while Romel Rahat and Khatweeb supported with two each.

In the day’s second game, All Star defeated Rush Brook by 9 wickets. Rush Brook batted first and were all out for 96 in 13 overs. Satyaeshwar Ramcharran made 61 while Moses Ramnarine took 3 – 30 and Abdul Salim 2-26.

All Star in reply made 99 for 1 in 8 overs. Khemraj Surajpaul scored 48 and Wayne Osborne 42.

In other matches played, Belle Plaine over came Cavaliers by 85 runs and Dare Devils got the better of Cavaliers by 5 wickets.

Scores: Belle Plaine 206-6 in 15 overs. (Charles Benjamin 75, Chandreka Ragnauth 66, Macksood Khatweeb 28, Zameer Zaman 2 – 30, Satrohan Krishundat 2-34) beat Cavaliers 121 all out in 13 overs (Z. Zaman 33, M. Khatweeb 5-34, C. Ragnauth 2-16, Romel Rahat 2-28).

Cavaliers 149-9 in 15 overs (Satnarine Sahadeo 29, Ricardo Adams 30, Seon Venture 4-18, Wazir Khan 2-20, Faheem Azweem 2-15) lost to Dare Devils 152-4 in 12 overs (Dilip Persaud 47, Nokta Moses 37 , Imran Khan 28). The competition continues on Sunday .
