Die Hard, Young Warriors and All Star recorded victories as the Trophy Stall sponsored Guyana Softball League 15 overs cricket competition commenced on the Essequibo Coast recently.
At Perseverance, Die Hard defeated Professionals by 80 runs. Die Hard batted first and made 199-6 in 15 overs. Patrick Rooplall top scored with 58 and Dhashan Narine contributed 30. Avo Amarnauth took 3-24 while Khemraj Deonarine grabbed 2-39 for Professionals who in reply scored 119 – 4 in their 15 overs.
Laxmikant Narine made 32 and Mahendranauth Bennet 25. Yassin Mohamed and Dhashan Sukhai took 2 wickets each for the winners.
In the day’s second game Young Warriors overcame Reliance by 6 wickets. Reliance took first strike and scored 120-8 off their allotted 15 overs with Narendra Madholall getting 49 and Devindra Parsram 22. Haseem Mohamed (3-16) and Sadesh Deolall (2-6) were the main wicket takers for Young Warriors.
In reply, the Warriors hit off the required total in 13 overs ending on 121-4. Khalid Baksh was their leading run getter with 29 while Parashurnam Raghubansie supported with 21. Rovendra Parsram took 3-25 for Reliance.
And in the 3rd and final game played, All Star got the better of Cullen by 4 wickets. Cullen batted first and rattled up 125-4 in 15 overs while All Star responded with 126-6 in 14 overs.
Golden Fleece also gained a walk over from Uprising. The competition continues on Sunday.
