Ricky Persaud smashed his way to 103 off 63 balls to lead La Grange All Youths Sports Club to a comfortable 41 run win over Young Challengers X1 when rivalry in the Trophy Stall sponsored nationwide 15 overs round hand softball cricket competition continued recently.
In their West Bank Zone, first round encounter, La Grange All Youths won the toss and elected to take first strike.
They rattled up a formidable 196-6 in 15 overs with Persaud leading the way with his ton which was laced with 7 sixes and 5 fours. Joey Wilson backed up with 30 (3 sixes and 1 four) while Anil Singh took 2-32 from 3 overs.
In response, Young Challengers tried their best to overhaul the winning target but were dismissed for 157 with 12 balls remaining. Travis Wright hit the top score of 83 spiced up with 6 sixes and 5 fours. Pooran Balkarran made 13. The leading bowlers for La Grange were Shiv Bissoon 3-14 from and Khemraj Bissoon 3-24 from 3 overs each.
Bhaiya XI got the better of Independence Sports Club by 21 runs. Bhaiya XI were bowled out for 100 off their allotted overs, Clay Wistwright top scoring with 25 (3 fours) with Shew Singh grabbing 4-30 and Compton Melbourne 2-9.
In reply, Independence were hustled out for 79 in 11 overs. Danny Bissoon dismissed four batsmen while conceding 9 runs. The only batsman offering any resistance was Robin Persaud with 21.
In the West Coast Zone, Leonora Youths won back to back matches at the Leonora Primary School ground.
Scores: Leonora Youths upstaged Rangers Sports Club “B” by 59 runs.
Leonora Youths were all out for 107 off 13 overs, extras leading the way with 27. Dinesh Moonsammy had figures of 3-21. Rangers were bundled out for 48 in 9.3 overs despite Dinesh Moonsammy’s 27.
The main wrecker with the ball was Premanand Arjune, 4-10.
In their second match, Leonora Youths humbled All Star XI by 7 wickets.
All Star – 61 all out in 12.1 overs, Bishwa Tiwari 12; Premanand Arjune 3-12. Leonora Youths 65-3 from 7.3 overs. Hemant Kowlessar 22 not out.
Over in the Essequibo Zone, Die Hard Sports Club defeated Professionals XI by 80 runs.
Die Hard batting first posted a formidable 199-6 in 15 overs. Patrick Rooplall lashing his way to 58 (5 sixes) and Darshan Narine 30.
Avo Amernauth snared 3-24 for Professionals XI who were only able to muster 119-4 off their 15 overs. Laksmikant Narine top scored with 32.
Young Warriors Sports Club took care of Reliance Sports Club by 6 wickets.
Reliance took to the crease first and posted 120-8. Narendra Madholall fell one short of a half century as he hit 4 sixes.
Hasheem Mohamed took 3-16 for Young Warriors who responded with 121-4 with two overs to spare. Khalid Baksh 29.
All Star XI defeated Cullen Sports Club by 4 wickets while Golden Fleece got a walkover from Uprising.
