– New Executive vows to improve club’s standing
Ivor Thompson was unanimously elected as President of the Old Fort Hockey Club at its Annual General Meeting which was held yesterday, at Sleep In Hotel on Brickdam.

Thompson, a former captain of the club which was formed in the mid 70s’ by then Crime Chief Cecil ‘Skip’ Roberts and his son former national captain Jeremy Roberts, replaced outgoing President Gavin Hope, who declined to run for any office at this year’s elections.
His Assistants will be 1st Vice-President Mark Xavier and 2nd V-President Chris Low-Koan. Mikhail Smith will perform the duties of Treasurer; Secretary Candace Fields; Assistant Secretary/Treasurer- Dion Gillis; Club Captain is Rawle Welch, who will also serve as PRO as well.
The three Committee members are: John Abrahams, Jason Dos Santos and Dwight Sullivan.
The new President just after thanking the members for expressing their confidence in electing him to such a prestigious position said that the club will be looking for an official sponsor this time around and several business entities will be approached shortly to discuss this subject.
He also disclosed that unlike the past, discipline is one of the key areas that the club will place specific emphasis on and a Disciplinary Committee is to be set up very shortly.
Another feature that will be instituted in the club is the formation of a Fund-Raising Committee which will cater for implementing activities to garner funds for the club.
Meanwhile, Hope in his final report, while lamenting the club’s performance during last year, called on those who will serve in the new term to avoid the pitfalls that beset the previous executive and offered his support to the new team.
Outgoing Secretary Dexter Wyles in his closing remarks presented the current financial situation of the club and urged members to adhere to the club’s constitution.
All members of the new executive expressed determination to work assiduously to ensure that the club climb out of its current state of affairs and become a more viable entity.
