Would it make a difference if there were no traffic policemen?

Policemen are there for upholding and maintaining moral values within the country, and enforcing the law. They are the ones who have the authority to ensure that persons act in a moral way that is acceptable in society. Surely, that is everything that our policemen here in Guyana stand for. Surely?
The traffic lights are seen as a blessing for some persons and a nuisance for others. Traffic police obviously see them as a blessing, not only because the traffic lights help them keep order on the road, but they utilise the traffic lights as a way of earning an informal income. I am sure you victims know what I mean.
The policemen near traffic lights are so keen on your vehicle’s movements. They have 100% vision, 20/20 vision, mind you. They have such good vision that they see everything that you do and did not do!
You did not do anything wrong, but yet you are subjected to harassment by the traffic police, who have a repugnant motive of obtaining a “raise”.
One morning, I was driving and I was stopped by a policeman (I was not speeding). I thought it was just a usual check on the driver’s licence and fitness, but I was wrong.
The traffic policeman asked me for a “raise” when I stopped. He did not ask me for my licence or my fitness, just the “raise”. Is it because they feel that they can do whatever they want and abuse their authority that’s why they do this? Or is it because they derive some sort of pleasure from this?
Moreso, traffic police, while driving, feel as though they can do whatever they want just because they wear that nice blue uniform and dainty hat.
They enter the wrong lanes at traffic lights, and they bore in front of you, if you are the first person in the line at the traffic light. They are the ones who are supposed to be setting examples for us, but yet they behave in an unethical way.
The traffic police’s behaviour that we see today in Guyana is unethical and it displeases a lot of persons who are subjected to their treacherous behaviour.
They are the ones who are supposed to maintain order and uphold moral values within the country and set examples for persons, but they do not! It leaves one to wonder if it would make a difference if there was not any traffic police in Guyana. What do you think?
