T. King got it wrong in his letter “Is the opposition bold enough?” (Kaieteur News 20/1/2009). King said it is not the Government’s responsibility to fund the broadcasting of Parliamentary sittings. He said the PNCR and AFC and Government should share funding.
It is not the responsibility of the PNCR and AFC to get funding to broadcast Parliamentary sittings, as King feels. It is the responsibility of Government to pay for Parliamentary coverage. The Constitution of Guyana explicitly outlines the three branches of Government, which are the executive, the judicature and the legislature.
The Government is not the PPP’s property. The Government is the people’s institution, and all the Parliamentary opposition parties are part of Government.
