A fine allround performance by Toolsie Sahadeo guided Chandreka Ragnauth XI to a comfortable 50 run victory over Keval Chulai XI in the final of the Belle Plaine Cricket Club 20 overs softball competition played at Belle Plaine in Wakenaam recently.
Sahadeo hit an unbeaten 125 and got support from Ragnauth 22 and Charles Benjamin 22 as their team rattled up 228 for 7 off their allotted 20 overs. Oyono Sampson (2 – 36) and Keval Chulai (2 – 44) were the wicket takers for Chulai XI.
In their turn at the crease Chulai XI made 178 all out in 17 overs. Olwin Paton top scored with 38, while Chulai made 22 and Macksood Khatweeb 21.
Sahadeo returned with the ball to capture 3 – 25, while Ragnauth bagged 4 – 26.
Ragnauth XI took the winning trophy and $10,000, while Sahadeo took the best batsman and man-of-the-match awards.
Ragnauth was the best bowler while Charles Benjamin collected the trophy for the most discipline player. (Zaheer Mohamed)
