Shieldstown defeated Number Four Settlement yesterday to win the final of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Blairmont Inter-Block Softball Cricket competition yesterday.
Shieldstown won the toss and put their opponents into bat when the 10-over final was played at the Number Three Settlement ground.
Number Four were all out for 43 while Shieldstown made 46 in 6.4 overs to take the Ministry’s trophy. The team were also given a presented with a monetary donation from Parliamentary Secretary Steve Ninvalle who was on hand to witness the match. The tournament attracted eight teams from the area.
This event brought the curtains on the ministry’s Inter-Block programme for this year, paving the way for a fresh start next year and with more innovations as they look to expand sports development.
