Women robbed, raped at gunpoint
Police on the East Bank of Demerara are looking for a mystery prowler who robbed and sexually assaulted two women at gunpoint in a house at around 03:00 hrs yesterday.
The robber is believed to have gained entry to the East Bank Demerara premises by removing louvre panes from a window.
A police official said that the women were sleeping in a bedroom with three children when a masked man woke them up.
The man, who had a handgun, forced his victims to hand over $20,000 in cash and an estimated $25,000 in jewellery.
He reportedly then sexually assaulted both women before fleeing, after ordering his victims to cover themselves with a bed sheet.
