Dear Editor,
Recently awards were given to individuals who contributed par excellence to tourism in Guyana.I am astounded when I discovered that the name Richard Ousman (deceased), Founder and Managing Director of Wonderland Tours, did not even tickle the memory of the organisers as to remember his sterling contribution to tourism.
Richard will be remembered for his contribution not only to tourism, but as the youngest producer in the musical industry.
Many if not all of those whose names were mentioned and received awards were students of Ousman. I wonder if a particular individual who featured prominently in the award ceremony is so shameless as not to remember that Richard Ousman was a saviour to many persons in the tourism sector.
Ousman should always be remembered for his unmatchable qualities of a man impaired visually; an amazing personality to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
I do hope that the tourism authority would be selfless in their appreciation for a man who pioneered tourism and contributed significantly to the Industry. I hope the name Richard Ousman will be remembered in a meaningful way.
