Fruta Conquerors continued their excellent run of form at the junior level by reaching yet another final and will be aiming to clinch the double at this level, having already won the Courts Under-11 League after defeating Sunburst Camptown in the final, at Thirst Park.
Yesterday, enjoying home advantage, Conquerors humbled Beacon 4-0 in the first semi final of the Williams Under-11 Knockout Tournament, at the Tucville ground.
Inspirational striker Ryan ‘Bum Bum’ Hackett took on the Beacon defence and penetrated with goals on three occasions.
Santos were also in a no nonsense mood, ruining any hopes Marian Academy would have had of advancing, blanking them 5-0 in the other semi final.
Travis Fitzpatrick was also in a rush to score goals, hitting the back of the network three times.
The task for Beacon to overcome the consistent Conquerors Pee Wee unit was always going to be tough. The well oiled Fruta juniors controlled the game in every regard and are odds on favourites to add the knock out version title at this level, perhaps the first time in the history of the game at the Pee-Wee level a knock out competition is being held.
Randy Layne opened the scoring for Conquerors in the 6th minute, while Hackett netted his first in the 17th as Conquerors led 2-0 at the half way mark. Beacon held firm for most of the second half, but could not keep Hackett at bay for too long. He banged in the other goals eight minutes apart in the 32nd and 40th earning a well deserved win for his side.
Santos totally outplayed Marian Academy, who with a few more months of serious training can be a tougher force to reckon with at this level.
Most of the action took place in the Academy’s half, Selah Rogers’ opening goal in the 2nd minute, a ripping right foot shot into the roof of the nets that effectively set the tone for the remainder of the encounter.
Fitzpatrick took over the show from the 15th minute and was on target in the 33rd and 34th. Job Caesar sealed the deal and their spot in the final with his 37th minute effort.
