New Line Cavaliers to take on Canada national team
The New Line Aqua Farm sponsored team New Line Cavalier of West Demerara will do battle with the Canada National Cricket team which has recently participated in the President’s Cup Regional tournament tomorrow.
The two teams will be engaged in a 20/20 fixture starting at 13:00hrs at the Canal # Two Sports Club, West Bank Demerara.
The New Line Aqua Farm is committing $600,000 in prizes for this event in which the winning team will pocket $400,000, $100,000 going to the loosing team and $100,000 going towards individual performances.
The combination of New Line Cavaliers players Avinash Sookdeo, Chien Gittens, Maxwell Frazer (wk) with national player Gajanand Singh will be tested tomorrow as they take on the fast-improving Canadians.
Individual prizes will go towards maximum-six achiever and man-of-the-match among others.
Proprietor of New Line Aqua Farm and resident of Canal #2 Salim Azeez is expecting the event to be festival-like.
He explained that this is all part of an overall plan to lift the standard of cricket and heighten participation in the game in West Demerara. Admission to the game is free.
