Veteran journalist George Barclay was smiling again yesterday after learning that police had recovered his red Toyota Corolla, which thieves had made off with on Friday.
Kaieteur News understands that the vehicle was found abandoned early yesterday morning in the vicinity of Smyth Street.
Mr. Barclay said that only the battery was missing. The hydraulic jack was left untouched.
However, the journalist will have to wait a few days before the car is returned to him, since police are dusting it for fingerprints.
Thieves made off with the car, PBB 2152, between 10:00 hrs and 11:00 hrs on Friday, after Mr. Barclay parked it outside the High Court while covering a murder trial.
According to reports, a policeman had observed someone sitting in the car, “with one foot outside while reading a newspaper,” shortly before the car disappeared.
