Dear Editor,
I am experiencing a great deal of difficulty with the postal system in the New Amsterdam- East Canje area as a mailbox at the corner of New Street Cumberland is not being cleared on a daily basis.
I called the postmaster at the New Amsterdam post office on numerous occasions to air my dissatisfaction at the quality of service.
On many occasions they would send someone to clear the said box, which would be overflowing with mail, but after that, the situation would return to the same old way.
Around the second day of October this year, I posted a letter by dropping it into this box.
Lo and behold, the recipient of this letter who hails from neighbouring village Sheet Anchor only received the letter the other day (October 22).
These boxes are supposed to be cleared on a daily basis but this is not happening.
It is a great inconvenience to mail something off using these boxes, only to have to wait weeks to have them delivered to the recipients. More confidence needs to be established within the postal system.
Some system, therefore, has to be put in place to deal with these and other post boxes that are not cleared daily. Name withheld
