First timers Buxton United have increased their lead at the top of the points table when they took care of former East Demerara powerhouses Victoria Kings 1-0 when play in the Mackeson / East Demerara Football Association senior league continued on Sunday last at the BV ground.
A Les Charles Critchlow 70th minute goal separated the two teams in the tight battle but it was the younger brigade that prevailed after full time. Sunday’s other match produced an exciting 2-2 draw between Bakewell Buxton Stars and Ann’s Grove.
Ann’s Grove came from behind on both occasions to earn an equal share of the points. Buxton Stars’ Neville Gulliver netted both goals for his team, scoring in the 3rd and 57th minutes.
Ann’s Grove responded with strikes by Gavin Adams in the 25th and Carlus Adams ten minutes before full time.
