Amrit half century guides Die Hard to victory
A fine half by Devindra Amrit guided Die Hard to a comfortable 7 wicket victory over Young Guns as play in the Essequibo leg of the 15 overs Guyana Softball League cricket competition continued on the Essequibo Coast.
Amrit made 64 and got valuable support from Denesh Narine (30) as Die Hard reached the winning target of 129 for the loss of 3 wickets off 11 overs, despite a two wicket haul from Dhanraj Dyal.
Earlier Young Guns batted first and made 128 – 7 off their allotted 15 overs. Yashpaul Sooknarine top scored with 23 while Devindra Shivbaran contributed 21. Anthony Narine took 3 – 27 and Trevor Panday 2 – 19 for Die Hard.
In other matches, United Brothers defeat Colombia while Reliance overcame Electronics. Young Warriors, Collen and Richmond Youths gained walk overs from Airy Hall, Jaguars and Uprising respectively.
Scores at Perseverance:
United Brothers 151 all out in 14 overs (Shannon Jagmohan 37, Gopaul Deen 34, Bahwan Raman 2 – 33, Rameez Mohamed 2 – 37) beat Colombia 118 – 8 in 15 overs (Rameez Mohamed 52, Surendra Ramoutar 20, Gopaul Deen (2 – 17, Eknauth Baksh 2 – 28).
At Reliance:
Reliance 177 – 8 in 15 overs defeated Electronics 142 – 7 in 15 overs) No individual scores were available.
