A West Coast Berbice family is trying to trace the whereabouts of 41-year-old truck driver Jacob Hookumchand, who disappeared last Wednesday after going for a stroll.
Hookumchand, of Bush Lot Village, West Coast Berbice, vanished while he was staying at a sister who resides at Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara.
According to reports, Hookumchand left his sister’s home at around 08:30 hrs on Wednesday.
He reportedly informed the sister that he would walk on the seawall and return to the home at around 10:00 hrs.
When he failed to return, the relatives attempted to contact him by cell phone, but received a recording which indicated that the instrument was turned off.
The family members said that they checked with other relatives, and even scoured the seawall area where Hookumchand was supposed to have gone, but found no trace of him.
They said that the missing man was wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans and a grey cap when he left home.
The relatives are asking persons with information about Hookumchand’s whereabouts to contact them on telephone numbers 220-1630 and 614-5308.
