Chess qualifiers tourney concludes this weekend
The Qualifiers’ chess tournament involving over forty chess players and sponsored by Keishar’s and Sasha’s Cells concludes this weekend.
Play resumes today with three more rounds at the Hotel Tower, Main St. Georgetown from 10:00am. David Khan is leading the tournament in the senior category while Khalid Gajraj leading the junior category after the first three rounds was played last Sunday.
The final three rounds of the nine round events for both the Senior and Junior categories are scheduled for tomorrow.
The winners in each category will be announced at the end of the final round tomorrow afternoon. Trophies and prizes will be presented to all players who become qualifiers for the National Chess Championship.
Seven Senior and eight Junior chess players who have qualified at the end of the Qualifiers’ tournament will move on to battle each other for the National Chess Champion title scheduled to begin in early November.
