Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man whose body was found in a drain at the Mon Repos Market Road yesterday afternoon.
Kaieteur News understands that Harold Persaud, who is said to be mentally challenged, was discovered by residents lying motionless in the drain at around 16:30 hours.
There are reports that Persaud may have imbibed alcohol and fell into the drain, where he reportedly drowned.
No marks of violence were found on the body, but detectives are awaiting a post mortem report to continue with their investigations.
