Holitipu House continues domination

Holitipu House continued its domination of the St Joseph’s High School Track and Field inter–house competition yesterday at the Guyana Defence Force ground.
The ‘House’ registered a total of 553 points tallied from both the field and track contests to leave the second place finisher, Irmaipan on 476 points and third placed Murudi on 436 points.
Wenishema House came in fourth with 373 points while Paramakatoi chalked up 332 points for fifth and Akaiwana 319 points for sixth.
Kaieteur Sport learnt that it was the seventh consecutive year that Holitipu, blazing a blinding red outfit, completely dominated the event. House Master, Rawle Duke expressed delight over that fact yesterday.
“We try to get used to it [dominance],” Duke said when asked for his reaction toward the feat. He said that it would not have been possible without the consistent commitment from teachers and students alike.
“The commitment from teachers and willingness of athletes to participate is outstanding,” Duke informed, adding that it is a true team effort that forces the success of the Holitipu House time and time again.
The day before, the champion ‘House’ amassed 211 points from the field events competition, leaving Murudi on second with 146 points and Paramakatoi on third with 135 points. Akaiwana, Irmaipan and Wenishema took fourth, fifth and sixth places with 129, 124 and 101 points respectively.
The school’s Headmistress, Gail Primo told this newspaper that she was proud of the competition and athletes that eventually came out on top.
“I am very satisfied with the keenness of competition. I am proud of the performances of all the athletes and the house that has won,” Primo said.
The inter–house competition is the stepping stone toward the inter–school contest that leads to the ‘champion of champion’ meeting where athletes vie for an opportunity to represent their district at the schools’ national championships. (Edison Jefford)
