Irfan Ally to be confirmed as Housing Minister

Irfan Ally has been confirmed as Minister of Housing and Water.
A Government source yesterday said that he will take up the post as soon as former Housing Minister Harrinarine Nawbatt leaves for Brazil.

According to the source, the other alternative was to move one of the ministers that have already been appointed, but that would have created another gap to fill.
President Jagdeo announced recently that the Minister of Housing and Water, Harrinarine Nawbatt, has been appointed Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil.
The Head of State’s confirmation came days after reports stated that Minister Nawbatt was to be Guyana’s ambassador to that country.
This is the second recent major shake-up among Government ministers after former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rudy Insanally, resigned his post and was replaced by former Amerindian Affairs Minister, Carolyn Rodrigues.
This left the Amerindian Affairs Minister’s post vacant for a while, but it was eventually filled by PPP/C Member of Parliament Pauline Sukhai.
