Chanderpaul deserves the OE
DEAR EDITOR,
In the Thursday, September 11, 2008 edition of the Chronicle newspaper, Mr. Ray Sundar, in his letter, expressed the opinion that Mr. Shivnarine Chanderpaul should be awarded the Order of Excellence (OE).
I concur with the sentiments expressed by this writer, because Chanderpaul’s achievement is unmatched by any other Guyanese.
It appears that all the other persons awarded the Order of Excellence have been politicians or politically affiliated. The time to break that tradition has come.
Mr. Chanderpaul has made all of Guyana proud by receiving the ICC Cricketer of the Year Award; and in my humble opinion, President Bharrat Jagdeo should bestow the OE on him.
I salute you Chanderpaul. Over to you, Mr. President.
