Linden’s First Mayor laid to rest
Dead: Egbert Benjamin
Linden’s First Mayor, Egbert Benjamin, was yesterday laid to rest at the Christianburg cemetery, after a stirring funeral service at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, in Linden.
Lindeners turned out to pay their last respects to the town’s first Mayor
Among those paying their last respects and tributes to Benjamin, were Mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green, PNC General Secretary Oscar Clarke, IMC Chairman of the Linden Municipality, Orrin Gordon, Regional Chairman Mortimer Mingo and representatives of the United Mission Churches in Region 10.
Benjamin passed away at the Linden Hospital Complex on Monday, September 1.
