Two men have been remanded to prison after they were jointly charged with simple larceny.
The men, Michael Raphael and Rudolph Joseph, made their appearance yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Priya Beharry.
It is alleged that on August 15 last at Soesdyke, they stole one Caterpillar alternator and other parts of an excavating machine, property of Raymond Ali, totaling $376,463.
To the charge both men pleaded guilty.
Police Prosecutor Sherwin Matthews told the court that on the day in question one of the accused who is employed by Raymond Ali, took the other accused to the location where they removed the items without permission.
The duo was subsequently arrested and charge. The prosecution further requested that bail be refused. The men were remanded and are expected to make their next court appearance on September 16.
