Kidney transplant patient anxious to return to school
Guyana’s first kidney transplant patient, Munesh Mangal, says that now that he is feeling much better, he is anxiously looking forward to going back to school next week. Mangal says he is almost back to his old self and is not experiencing any pain or discomfort.
Kaieteur News caught up with the young man at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he had just completed a mandatory checkup.
In September, Munesh will be returning to the Apex Academy, where he hopes to finally be able to write the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council exams, which he had to postpone twice as a result of his illness.
The young man’s mother, Leelkumarie Mangal, donated one of her kidneys to her only son, 17-year-old Munesh, on July 12 to afford him a new lease on life.
