The dancer who was seriously injured when a dance routine went horribly wrong on Emancipation Day at the National Park is still in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Twenty-one-year-old dancer Andrea Roach sustained spinal injuries then. She was dancing with a member of the X-Factor dance group, who threw her into the air but failed to catch her as she fell head-first onto the wooden stage.
At the hospital, she was told by medical professionals that she might become paralyzed due to the impact of the fall.
Today, Andrea continues to have no feelings from the neck down. She is being fed mechanically, and a machine is being used to help her breathe.
She underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, which revealed that two pairs of bones behind her neck are overriding each other rather than being parallel to each other.
The doctors are quite certain she will make it if she undergoes surgery abroad, but she cannot be moved from the GPHC until given the permission by her doctor.
She cannot speak to anyone because of the respiratory tubes attached to her, but she is responding with her eyes.
