The Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s (LABA) Summer Festival Basketball tournament commences Monday with Wismar Pistons taking on minnows New Ballers in the first game of an intriguing double–header.
The first game is scheduled for 6:30pm while the second game between Glands Trucking Service Bulls and Jets gets underway from 8:30pm at the locally renowned Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Basketball Court.
According to the tournament schedule, Patriots comes up against Kashif and Shanghai Kings in game one while Alleyene’s Retrieve Raiders plays Victory Valley Royals in game two when the event continues on Wednesday.
Elite Promotions Inc. is the primary sponsor of the super–eight knockout championship that features the top eight teams in the Mining Town. First place takes home $80,000 while second and third places get $40,000 and $20,000.
Group ‘B’ of the competition includes Kings, Patriots, Jets and Bulls while Group ‘A’ has Pistons, Ballers, Raiders and Royals. The tournament will be launched at 1:00pm today at Linden Online Café.
All teams are invited to the briefing today. The semi–finals are set for August 22 while the final will be staged on August 29 at the MSC.
