The Ministry of Education will conduct a one-week workshop for Regional Education Managers from August 18-22 at the Regency Hotel in Georgetown.
The workshop, under the theme “Building Managerial Capacity and Accountability in the Reformed Education Sector”, is aimed at enhancing efficiency within the system to improve the overall quality of education delivery in Guyana.
Central to the workshop are the recently concluded Education Sector Reform and Innovation initiative and the Ministry’s Education Strategic Plan 2008 – 2012, titled “Meeting the Quality Imperative”.
Regional Educators will engage in a number intensive sessions targeting the need for increased supervision and accountability, and the strengthening of education processes to ensure quality. It is expected that this workshop will produce more effective education managers and ensure more proactive approaches in addressing existing educational issues.
The workshop will commence with remarks and charges from the Minister of Education, Shaik Baksh, and the Minister of Local Government, Kellawan Lall and will include presentations from a wide cross-section of education specialists in Guyana.
This is the first in a series of planned workshops.
