Paul Barclay was remanded to prison for robbery under arms when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Nigel Hawk.
It is alleged that on August 4, while armed with a dangerous weapon, he stole from Jetendra Rampaul one motor car valued at $1.8M and a gold chain valued at $70,000.
The charge is indictable; as such, Barclay was not required to plead. Barclay is expected to make his next court appearance on August 29.
Also, in court on Wednesday, Gerald Warde, was remanded to prison, this time for a burglary charge.
It is alleged that at some time between August 1 and August 2, Warde stole a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery from Ishwar Tharudin.
The charge is indictable. Warde was remanded, and is expected to make his next court appearance on August 29.
