The opening ceremony of the East Coast Cricket Board’s Annual Academy for young people will take place at the Lusignan Community Centre on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10.00 a.m.
The theme for the two week seminar for male and female youths between the ages of 12 and 16 years is “Cricket and Healthy Life style”.
Topics expected to be covered during this period will include Laws of Cricket , Umpiring, Sportsmanship, History of West Indies Cricket, Coaching, Fitness, Drugs and Sports, Hygiene, Exercise, Leisure and Recreation, Disciplined and Commitment in Sports, Food and nutrition, Careers available in Cricket, Importance of balancing Education and Sports, Discrimination in Sports, Healthy Lifestyle, Social Etiquette, Leadership, Scoring and playing Cricket. This is the seventh academy organised by the East Coast Cricket Board.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony is expected to deliver the feature address and declare the academy opened.
Registration will be done tomorrow August 8 at the Lusignan Community Centre between 10.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
