Nude body found in Skeldon backlands
– victim may have been sodomised
The nude decomposed body of a man suspected to be of East Indian ancestry was discovered yesterday in the Number 69 Village, Corentyne backlands about half mile from the public road.
The unidentified body was discovered at about 13:30 hours.
Sources in Berbice told this newspaper that the body, that of a person who was five feet four inches in height, was discovered under a tamarind tree.
Next to the body, investigators found a pair of blue denim pants, white long sleeve shirt, black and white running shoes, and a green and white underwear.
A medical source who examined the body told this newspaper that they suspect that the person was sodomised.
The body is lying at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary awaiting a positive identification.
