The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred shortly after noon yesterday in the vicinity of Eccles Old Road, East Bank Demerara.
Chrishandatt Deolall and Paul Hector were attacked and robbed by five men, all of whom were armed with firearms. Three of them were reportedly dressed in dark blue uniforms.
Investigations revealed that Chrishandatt Deolall, who is employed by Bakewell Bakery and was driving motor vehicle PKK 923, and Paul Hector, an armed security guard attached to a private security service who was driving motor vehicle PKK 6815, were proceeding into the Eccles Industrial Site area.
On reaching the Eccles Old Road, a motor car drove up suddenly and blocked the path of the two vehicles.
Five armed men then allegedly exited and held the two victims at gunpoint. They then took away a .38 revolver with seven rounds from Paul Hector and a bag containing $1.8 million from Deolall’s vehicle after smashing the right side front window.
No one has been arrested.
