Oasis Café to host Mega Chess Tournament
Yong’s Bakery on board
The Oasis Café will host its biggest chess tournament of the year starting this Saturday at the South Road location from 9:30am.
The first round will be played according to the Swiss system and consists of six rounds, with 90 minutes per game time control.
At the conclusion of round six, the top sixteen players will be placed into four groups where a knockout format will commence on July 25. The semi-final and final are slated for the following day.
The tournament is open to all chess players who are required to bring along their tournament size chess sets and clock. The winner is guaranteed $40,000 while the second place finisher will receive half that amount.
Mr. and Mrs. Walker of the Oasis Café and the Oasis Too along with Yong’s Bakery are the exclusive sponsors of the event.
