The security forces recovered two illegal firearms in two separate findings last Sunday.
One of the firearms was found at Amelia’s Ward while the other was recovered from a vendor at the Bartica Stelling.
According to a police press release, at about 13:10 hours on Sunday, surveyors working at Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, found a 12-gauge Mosberg pump action shotgun among some bushes. The firearm was handed over to the police who are conducting investigations.
And a little less than six hours later, at about 19:00 hours, members of a Joint Services mobile patrol conducted a search on a vendor who was operating at the Transport and Harbours Department Stelling at Bartica.
An unlicensed .32 CZ semi automatic pistol along with a magazine containing nine matching rounds were found in his possession. He was arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
