Edward Skeete, the man who was caught on Tuesday last while his accomplice was shot dead following a robbery, was yesterday remanded to prison.
Skeete, of Punt Trench Dam, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer a charge of robbery under arms before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
It is alleged that on July 1 last, while armed with a gun, he robbed George Ramsarran of one wrist watch, one gold band, $94,000 in local currency and US$150. The charge was indictable and Skeete was not required to plead.
Skeete is expected to make his next court appearance on July 30.
Skeete and another man identified as 36-year-old Dexter Chase allegedly walked into Ramsarran’s business place located on John Street, Werk-en-Rust, and robbed the businessman.
Initial reports had stated that Skeete and Chase, after robbing Ramsarran at his business place, were involved in an exchange of gunfire with police who were hot on their trail.
During the shooting Chase was killed, while reports are that Skeete surrendered soon after.
