Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday remanded a 20-year-old man to prison after he was charged with two counts of robbery under arms.
The accused, Kelvin Emperor Keron, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the indictable charges were read to him. It is alleged that on June 22, while being armed with a handgun, he robbed Andre Damon of $15,000 in cash and one Nokia cell phone.
It is also alleged that, on the same day, he robbed Christen Bailey of a shoulder bag, a cell phone and cash to the total value of $49,000.
Keron’s lawyer, Gary Ramlochand, in making a bail application, said that his client has a fixed place of abode at Lot 8, North East La Penitence. Ramlochand further informed the court that his client has no previous convictions.
However, bail was objected to by the Police prosecutor. Keron is expected to make his next court appearance on July 25.
