John, Bryan to spearhead Guyana’s team at Latin C/ships
Caribbean champions Michelle John and Nigel Bryan will spearhead Guyana’s team at the upcoming Latin American Cadet and Junior Table Tennis Championships in Cartegena, Colombia from June 13-17.
According to National Coach Linden Johnson, who will travel with the team, Caribbean Under-18 runner-up Trenace Lowe is the other player selected to the squad which departs Guyana on Friday.
John, who defeated Lowe to win the Girls U-18 title and Bryan, the U-15 champion, all have excellent chances of qualifying for the worldwide series organised by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Should Bryan finish in the top four, he will then qualify for the World Cadet Finals scheduled to be held in Helsingborg, Sweden in October, while strong performances from John and Lowe would make them eligible for the World Junior Championships slated for New Zealand in December.
